Frontline moderation, dispute resolution, and community standards for a high-engagement Discord at Yellowstone Digital Media.
The situation
A high-engagement Discord community moves fast. Conflicts flare up in real time, and the tone of the space depends on how quickly and fairly they get handled.
What I did
I was the frontline for escalations and policy enforcement. I de-escalated user conflicts as they happened, served as the main contact for disputes, and flagged critical issues to the client before they grew. I also helped write and uphold the community standards that everyone else moderated against.
What it taught me
Clear standards do most of the work. When the rules are written plainly and applied the same way every time, moderation becomes calm and predictable, which is the same principle I bring to support operations now.
